Obesity impacts 813 million adults (aged 20 years and over), a number predicted to rise to 1.5 billion by 2030.1 It has a substantial health impact with 200+ possible complications affecting many organs and systems.2,3 Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality in people with obesity.4 There is clear association between BMI, hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. For example, the prevalence of hypertension increases with increasing BMI.

The number of people living with obesity continues to rise, highlighting the need to provide medical professionals with evidence-based tools to tackle the growing global obesity epidemic effectively.

By understanding the scientific principles that underlie the development of obesity and identifying challenges in an evidence-based manner, barriers to effective obesity management can be overcome. Rethink Obesity® aims to provide this science-based information, in an easily accessible manner, to healthcare professionals so they are able to enhance their clinical practice and achieve sustainable results for their patients living with obesity.
